Currently none of the shelters signed up in your areas have added any dogs yet. We'll do our best to try and get some more activity going in your areas and we'll let you know as soon as we see some dogs getting added in both LA and Oakland :)
We have a map at the bottom of our homepage - http://www.walkzee.com that shows where we currently have shelters with dogs added.

Glad to hear that, we're going to review that and see if we can improve the breed selection box.
For the photo we're currently developing a cropping tool that will give you more control on the photo upload process but unfortunately this is not expected to be ready until the start of October.
Until then what you can do is open the photo in your computer using paint or any other image editor and crop the photo manually. For more information on how to do this, see this guide here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-ie/windows7/crop-a-picture-using-paint
